FAVS Spring Portfolio Review Dates
The Film and Video Studies program will be holding two weekend portfolio review dates for the Spring 2012:
- Saturday, February 18th from 10am-2pm for the Freshman Portfolio deadline of March 1st
- Saturday, March 24th from 10am-2pm for the Transfer Portfolio deadline of April 1st

Overview
George Mason University is well-positioned to embrace the study of film and video within a degree program by virtue of an unusual synergy of faculty interests, including the appointment of a distinguished filmmaker Carma Hinton (read story), as a Robinson Professor, space availability, and equipment.
The Film & Video Studies (FAVS) program offers instruction in documentary production, business, and theory. The FAVS BA is housed in the College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) and draws on faculty and course offerings from seven departments (Art and Visual Technology, Communication, English, History and Art History, Modern and Foreign Languages, New Century College, and Theater) located in the College of Visual and Performing Arts and the College of Humanities and Social Studies.
Curriculum:
The BA in Film and Visual Studies (FAVS) is 120 credit hour degree with a 48-50 credit program, consisting of 21 credits of required courses, 12-14 credits of electives in theory and production, a required minor or intermediate level in a foreign language, a required internship, a senior thesis, a required 3 credits of a Film and Video Studies Colloquium, and 6 credits of specialized electives which help the student focus on his/her senior project/thesis.
