A warm welcome for new freshman group, the Class of 2021

On August 31st, our new freshman group, the Class of 2021, was warmly welcomed at a reception once again generously hosted by Donna Kidd and Peter Stearns at their elegant home in Clifton, VA. This annual event is an opportunity for our new students to meet members of our Dance Partnership Council as well as other university administrative officials in attendance. At this casual, but lovely, social event each freshman introduced themselves and their hometown, and spoke eloquently about their reasons for choosing the Mason School of Dance to continue their professional training. This year’s group includes students from twelve different states and Panama. Our new dancers made their Mason performance debut on September 23rd at the Arts! by George fund-raising event benefitting the College of Visual and Performing Arts. Performing a brief piece d’occasion created especially for them by their primary contemporary dance teacher, Associate Professor Dan Joyce, the class of 2021 danced with enthusiasm and energy for audiences gathered for our School of Dance presentations. We wholeheartedly welcome them to our Mason Dance family.
