This summer Mason goes to Reston, VA! There will be festivities with Lunchtime with the Arts at Mason on Thursdays from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Reston Town Center. Enjoy free lunchtime concerts in Reston Square Park by faculty and student performers from George Mason University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA), from Broadway cabaret to classical brass, from vocal jazz to the nation’s favorite pep band, The Green Machine. There will also be highlights from Mason’s School of Theater, a concert from Mason’s nationally-recognized jazz studies program, and performances by Mason alumni and graduate students. This series is presented by the Reston Community Center (RCC) in partnership with George Mason University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts, and hosted by the Reston Town Center Association. The location for May 9 – October 24 performances will be Reston Town Square Park (Corner of Market Street and Explorer Street).
“We’re thrilled to be working with the Reston Community Center and the Reston Town Center Association to present the Lunchtime with the Arts at Mason series this summer,” said Adrienne Godwin, programming manager at CVPA. “Audiences will get to experience the breadth of incredibly talented students and faculty members who call Mason’s College of Visual and Performing Arts their creative home. And in turn, we are looking forward to deepening our connection with the Reston community and sharing our artistic gifts with Fairfax County residents.”
In addition, Mason Music Productions will be participating in the RCC’s Summerbration Fun Brunch atop the Wiehle-Reston East Metro on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. These events are free for all ages and located at either the open-air plaza in front of Founding Farmers or onstage outside the Jahn Building. Free parking is available on weekends in the Metro Parking deck garage.
