Enjoy virtual and outdoor entertainment this fall!

Over the past few months, we have been missing live performances and working hard to ensure the arts are brought to you in safe and exciting ways! This past summer, the Hylton Center and its sister venue, the Center for the Arts, launched Mason Arts at Home, a series of virtual performances for viewing from the comfort of your home. From this programming initiative, Hylton at Home was born and continues to bring the arts directly to you through virtual Q&A’s with artists, free access to previously recorded content, and livestreamed performances. Details for how to view these offerings, including a regularly updated calendar of content to explore, can be found here.

In addition to Hylton at Home digital programming, we are excited to announce Hylton on the Hill, a new fall 2020 outdoor performance space with seating on a natural rise just behind the Hylton Center. Enjoy these October performances in your own seating area, physically distanced from other audience members. Be sure to catch the hot Charleston-based quintet Ranky Tanky (10/11) this coming weekend. Part folk, part funk, and totally fearless, 2020 Grammy® Award-winning Ranky Tanky specializes in jazz-influenced arrangements born from the Gullah culture of the Southeastern United States. Gullah culture originated in the barrier islands from Pender County, North Carolina to St. John’s County Florida. It was on these islands that former enslaved blacks as well as free blacks formed a culture directly linked to West Africa, making the Gullah language one of the only distinct African creole languages in the United States. Find out more about Ranky Tanky in this PBS NewsHour interview.

Tickets for Hylton on the Hill performances are $30 for adults and $15 for youth. Audience capacity for each show is 200 and tickets are selling quickly! Purchase Tickets Now.
