Maria M López, went back to Colombia in 2014, four years after graduating from Mason and working in public security programs with a focus on Cultural Policy at the Organization of the American States. Since being back in Bogotá, Colombia she has had the opportunity to develop her career in the cultural sector focusing on cultural heritage management programs.
Maria has been the program coordinator for the preservation of the coffee tradition at the Institute of Cultural Heritage, the Development and grants program coordinator of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogota and currently, she is coordinating the cultural heritage preservation program of the Ministry of Technology Information and Communications of Colombia. She has been working for the past 2 years as an Associate in Cultural Affairs to the Former Ambassador to the United States, Gabriel Silva Luján. She was the editor of a book about the Colombian Peace Process “A otro Perro con ese Hueso” and currently she is curating a project about the 100 most representative objects of Colombian History to celebrate Colombia's Bicentennial, which will be launched in an audiovisual format in the second semester of 2019.
Maria has a BA in History from Javeriana University in Bogotá, an MA in Arts Management from George Mason and she is currently an Executive MBA candidate from INALDE Business School. Besides studying, she really loves traveling; that’s what’s makes her heart beat.
