The MAT Art Education program offers student’s unique opportunities for enriching teaching and learning experiences. We hold annual events such as the Art Supervisors Roundtable, a panel discussion on hiring processes, and the Real Art of Teaching, where graduate alumni return to Mason to share their accounts of the real-world art classroom. The program invites national and regional guest speakers who offer current pedagogical and research skills as well as current best practices. There is the possibility to get involved with the NAEA Student Chapter to help organize community outreach events, guest artist/teacher workshops and excursions to area museums. The program offers many teaching opportunities in the Saturday and Summer Art programs in Collaboration with the Potomac Art Academy as well as Lorton Workhouse Summer Art’s Camp.
