Our dancers just can't get enough of dancing!

Mason dancers

From the top: Da'Shown Rawl, Maddie Dunn, and Isis Thomas.

When most students are winding down and taking some well-earned time off during the summer, many of our Mason dancers are just getting started! Their love of dance has driven them to find all kinds of interesting ways to stay busy, either training or performing, both here and overseas. Here are some examples of how our dancers are spending their summers.

Junior, Kyla Hull, will be traveling to the UK to present a new syllabus work to the British Association of Teachers of Dancing under the guidance of executive board member, Shelagh Connolly. This is just one of the many things she has planned.

Julia Cipriani is studying dancing for four weeks in Lucca, Italy with teacher, and Mason alumna, Maya Orchin (B.F.A., 2010).

Julia Norman has been making the most of her internship with Vertigo Dance Company by taking classes with the company as well as around Tel Aviv, Israel.

Incoming freshman, Isaiah Cavallero, is training at Nashville Ballet this summer.

Graduate, Marina Vianello, is not only heading out to Berlin to perform, but will also be performing in West Side Story as Velma, a Jet girl!

Alumni, Julie DeGregorio, is dancing with Dakshina/Daniel Phoenix Signh Dance Company.

RawArts Dance Company created by one of our own dancers, Da'Shown Rawl recently performed at Dance Loft in D.C., featuring Mason company members!

Mason alum, Maddie Dunn, and junior, Jovick Pavajeau-Orostegui will be performing the choreography of faculty member, Christopher d’Amboise, in Connecticut Repertory Theater’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar this summer.

Recently, three of our company members partnered up with an organization called Movement Exchange, and traveled to Panama to teach kids the fun and importance of dance.

Isis Thomas, recently awarded with our emerging freshman award, just completed her summer intensive with Mark Morris Dance Company.

Three of our students, who are studying at Parson’s this summer, got to take a master class from the inspiring Trey McIntyre.

Senior, Marcel Mejia, from Miami, Florida is heading to Springboard Danse in Montreal, Canada.
